Have you ever tried running a mile, full tilt and non stopping, letting the wind whistle through your hair, knowing you can outright a car? Let me tell you, if you haven't, you are so missing out on something kick ass. And the freedom that comes with it? Amazing, simply, amazing. While I was running, in a white shirt, black belt and black pants, there were only a few thoughts that stayed within my mind. One, the one that was most important, was finding my little sister. Sure she had killed father, but that was okay, I knew the reasons behind it. Darting over broken fences, and heading into a bad part of the town, I slowed my pace, breathing still relaxed as if I had been sitting all this time. The place in front of me was awful, yet this was where Niki lived, not knowing she wasn't here anymore, but still, I took my chances. Moving closer, the sounds of gunshots rang out, and dropping to the ground, my mind froze as I struggled to think what they would be shooting at. I was still too far away to be seen, right?
"Where the fuck is Niki?" The voice was female, and I heard another male growl, snapping my emotions into gear, and allowing my senses to roam, I knew that Niki, like the female had asked, wasn't there. Jumping to my feet, and beginning to run, feet crunching grass and loose leaves, my body plowed through the door and stopping inches from the barrel of a shotgun. "I'm looking for Niki too." Holding up my hands to show I wasn't a threat, the woman lowered her weapon slightly. The scents upon her, I already knew who she was. "Ashe? My, you've grown." Her words were awed as if she hadn't seen me for years. Oh wait, yea thats about true. "Yea, no thanks to you." Lowering into a half crouch, I swung my leg upwards, connecting with the shotgun, it flew from her grasp and landed in the hallway. Three males burst from the living room into where I was standing, and with a half grin, I bolted out the door, down the streets as fast, and as far as I could.
I followed a scent so like my own, reaching a park within moments, not really paying attention to anything except running for my life. Once at the park, my hands reached out to steady myself against the tree, eyes scanning the area to see where I was. Sniffing the air, I couldn't smell anything, but that didn't mean jack these days. Speaking of jack, I needed a drink. Alcohol or something non alcoholic, I didn't care very much. Striding forwards, and reaching my destination, a small club, and a smile filtered on my lips.

The mission was successful. I was sent to retrieve a new mutant with a fire ability close to my own. Except the poor kid wasn't used to using the ability, and had started a house fire quickly. Fortunately, I'm not just Pyrokinetic, I'm Thermokinetic as well, and all it took was a thought to put the flames out. I had talked the kid down, and showed him how he could learn to use his abilities like I do, he can control it. And all he has to do is come with me. I take new mutants to the company that made them. The place has all sorts of scientists working in labs, they understand mutants more than anyone else in the world can. It feels good to give someone else a chance at potential. Once debriefed, I'm off duty, and that means my time is my own. And I think it's time for a celebratory drink! Heading down to one of the clubs in town, I order a Vodka and Cranberry, downing the first drink in toast to myself, before ordering another one, laying my money on the bar, and running off to the dancefloor while the bartender does his job. The music is pumping, with a good beat, even if the bass is so loud you can't make out the lyrics. Doesn't matter, still good enough to dance to. When the song ends, I head back to the bar to see my drink waiting, and picking it up I walk toward one of the many couches in the place. I take a look around the room, just to see where the fun may be at. Lighting a cigarette with a short burst of my power from the tip of my index finger, I inhale deeply, letting out the smoke as I lounge.

Walking into the club, the music is incredibly loud for my hearing, sometimes having heightened senses really does bite, like now for instance, still, it was a good beat, but if I didn't want a raging headache, better try and tune it out. Heading to the bar, I order a rum and coke, the bartender knows me, and his father knew my father, so no I.D was asked, besides, I didn't drink that often anyway. Lifting the glass up to my lips, the cold liquid slides down my throat with ease when two things happened rapidly, which made me choke, setting the glass back down and coughing. Eyes watered, I looked at the people who had entered, boys from Niki's I guessed, they way they smelled. And from the lounge, the scent of something different hit my nostrils. It was normal for people to smoke in the corner, thats not my point. There was just something that I couldn't pinpoint on what it was so I had to forget about it. Still, smoke, like the wind, carried scents with it, dull, but they were there.
The music was too loud for me to hear what they were saying, but when they pointed to me, all hell broke loose. "Sorry kid, gotta defend whats mine right?" I look at the bartender, as a way of letting him know the stay back. The boys rush in, glaring at me with such hatred in their eyes, I shiver, planting both hands on the bar top before flipping upwards, landing on all fours while a low, growl escaped my lips. Seeing one chuckle, I didn't know what to do. Some of the people around us backed off, but the boys just continued onwards. "This is bad." I whispered, waiting till they got closer. Reaching out, I grabbed one by the shirt, pushing myself off the bar as we rolled upon the floor, I pinned him but was grabbed from behind, his friend to the rescue. "You will pay, back to mommy dearest." So they worked together huh for their sick ways? And now, I could be next. Struggling against his hold, I kicked out, being grabbed and pinned so that I couldn't move. Struggle yes, move nope. "Don't worry folks, shes just insane. Escaped from the local asylum." Wait what? And people believed him? Great, just great. "Let me go or I will rip you a new breathing hole." I snarled, yet to no avail.

Just as I start to shed the work of the day, and truly relax, all hell seems to break loose in the club. From where I'm sitting, I see the guys search the New Mutant out, and judging from her moves over the bar, she's definitely a feral. I've been in the game long enough to spot the tell tale moves. The guys tell people she's an escapee from some mental ward, and they bear down on her with such malice... Are these guys GSA too? I wouldn't know, I don't recognize any of them. And even if they are, they are going about this ALL wrong. All of the New Mutants I have brought in are alone, and scared... and inexperienced. They don't deserve to be hunted like this.
Fuck.
Putting the cigarette out in my drink, I discard it as I get off the couch, my eyes glowing flames as I pull out my GSA credentials, stepping between the guys and the New Mutant.
This Mutant is property of Genemex, and I will take it from here. If you don't let her go, you're going to end up with a fever and that new hole she's promising.
The guy holding her looks at my credentials, and seems to understand, stepping back, malice shooting in his eyes from his prey being taken. I'm tempted to ask for his credentials, so I can turn him in for terrorizing the poor girl, but taking her in is more important than reprimanding this group of thugs, so I hold my hand out to her, ignoring the guys, who haven't left, and are staring us down. If she flees from me, they will no doubt continue to hunt her down.
I'm Pyretta. I'm a New Mutant like you. Let me help you. I am employed by the company that made us what we are, and we can teach you how to use your gifts, and keep goons like these from bothering you ever again.

With Niki safely back at Sanctuary with the others, I took it upon myself to find her sister before the GSA did. Niki was sure Ashe would come for her. It was up to me to reunite them. Adam was keeping a watch on Niki's DNA, Jesse was training with her, while Emma and Brennan ran through other diagnostics and checks. Instead of taking the Helix, I drove my Jeep. Poor thing's been sitting for over a month. I was able to pick up Ashe's trail near Niki's home, as well as picking up a tail of my own when a few GS agents tried to get the jump on me. 2 men were left to watch the site, in case Niki or Ashe returned. Too bad for them, I was the only one with a plan on coming back. Ashe had been here, but was gone. Before I could go after her, I had to deal with the two following me in a black, nondescript sedan.
I took a hard right into an alley, slamming the Jeep into park and jumping to the roof before the sedan rolled in. The agents got out, guns drawn and crept up to the Jeep. I smiled down at them, waiting for the right moment. They circled around front, both standing there, looking around but never up. One of the guys raised a hand to his ear, listening to whatver was being transmitted. Apparently I wasn't a threat, they were to go back to their posts and await further orders. Feral hearing is great. Before they could walk away, I dropped down, landing between them in a crouch. "Sorry boys, tell the boss you're gonna be late." I thrust both arms out as they came forward, knocking them back. I took a step, planted one foot against the wall, spun and kicked out with my other foot, nailing one of them in the side of the head. He was down for the count. The other guy took a moment to stare at his fallen comrade, then looked up at me. I ducked as he fired 3 shots into the building behind me. The gun clicked empty and while he reached to reload I was up and on him, riding him to the ground. The gun skittered off behind my Jeep while I worked on pounding his face. Once they were both taking a nap, I grabbed the gun, tossed it on top of the roof I'd been standing on earlier, and threw the Jeep into reverse. Now that they were out of my way, I had to find Ashe, for Niki's sake, as much as her own.
I tracked her scent to a little bar, and pulling the Jeep into a parking spot, I decided a drink wouldn't be so bad. Alchohal in moderation didn't do anything to my system, not even a buzz. So I rarely drank enough to get plowed. Seems I got here just in time too. As I walked in, all thoughts of a drink vanished as I spotted Ashe and a well known GSA agent. Shit! A couple more underlings were lingering nearby. Pyretta, an agent that came up repeatedly on GSA transactions & transmissions, must be taking over, since she'd backed them off of Ashe. Now I had two problems. Getting Ashe away from Pyretta and the GSA, and not triggering Pyretta to use her mutant abilites. It could mean my downfall. She was a fire elemental, my one weakness. I hated feeling weak.
"Actually," I said, smiling as I walked up to the two of them. "Pyretta's not entirely correct. Genomex did create us, but they're not into helping us use our gifts. More like, they'll put you in stasis until they decide to cut you open and see what makes you tick." I stood beside Ashe now, hoping that I'd get her away from the GSA before things really went south. Judging from the look on Pyretta's face, she wasn't entirely sure that I was wrong about Genomex. I was sorely tempted to ask her just how much she knew of the real Genomex, but Ashe was my first priority. "Back off guys." I let my eyes flash orange-yellow as the other GSA goons tried to take a step towards us. "Us girls are gonna have a little chat. If you're not looking for a couple new holes, a fever, and a few missing limbs, I suggest you take a hike. Now." Whatever fear they felt from Ashe and Pyretta was now jacked up to a 10. I could smell the fear coming off them in waves as they retreated. I turned to Ashe. "I'm Shalimar Fox. Niki's safe. She wanted me to come find you, and bring you to her." I wasn't sure how complicated this was going to get with Pyretta here, and I was wishing I'd dragged Emma along for this.

Struggling, unable to get free! This really made me mad, however, there was someone coming. The first girl that helped me began talking, the others backed off, letting me go as I rubbed my wrists, taking the time to sneer at time. Not a very adult thing to do, but hey, they started it! "Wow, hey, thanks for the save, but I am not a mutant. Sure I'm canine like, more animal than human, but thats it." I raised my hands, pulling back my hair to show tipped ears, just to prove my point. "Look I." What else could I say? I didn't know what the hell Genomex was! This was getting weird, and fast. Rubbing my temples, hoping I wouldn't get a headache from all of this, I turned to look at Pyretta properly. "I'm Ashe-" Hang on, did she say what I think she said? Oh no, I was NO ones property. "Okay, first of all, I'm no ones property thank you very much." That was enough for me to get the hell out of there and find someplace less, well, weird like.
Fat chance of that. Turning around, I nearly walked into another girl, a snarl tore from my throat. "Okay, sorry, just don't sneak up on me like that." I held my hands up in a defensive gesture, hoping the girl wouldn't take offense at that little snarly display. "I'm not one for getting cut open, so I'm gonna take my leave." Pushing past, I intended to leave these two and get on with my life, feeling grim at the fact that instead of fun, I had trouble on my hands. Freezing in my stride, I turn to face the new comer, eyes widened. "You know my sister? Where is she? What have you done with her!" In a flash, I launched myself so I stood in front of Shalimar again, intent on getting the information I needed to get my sister back. In the whole sister revelation, I didn't even think about her other words until the adrenaline surged from my body, my mind finally clicking onto the words of what she had just said. Oh man, this was getting weird AND confusing.
"Okay, what the fuck is going on? And don't sugar coat anything." I warned, motioning with my left hand to the guy with the drinks. I didn't know what drink was in the glass, but he moved over to where we were, dressed in a crisp, clean suit. Picking a glass off the plate thing he was holding, he passed me the drink where I took it with both hands, gaining slight comfort off the cold liquid that sloshed inside. The glass was cool too from the liquid, holding it gently in my hands. I didn't exactly want to shatter the glass and spill the drink. Instead, I downed it in one shot, wincing as it hit me almost instantly, my world went fuzzy and I stumbled a little. "I'm okay, I'm okay. But that was needed." Gaining my bearings again, I sighed to myself. First priority was my sister, but to do that, I needed to listen to these two girls. Shalimar and Pyretta, and what they said would change my world. I wasn't stupid enough to believe that life would be the same after this. No, I knew everything would change.

Just as things seem to be quieting down, some blond chick calls me by name, and then proceeds to smear paranoid lies about Genemex to the New Mutant. Science isn't perfect, and I know some of the worst cases are kept in isolation, but it's for their own good! I've always kept out hope that the scientists Genemex have in such abundance would find ways to fix the worst cases we have to deal with. Not to mention, the girl, who introduced herself as Ashe, was starting to back away from me because I used the term property to shake off the goons that had her before I jumped up to help. Just great! I've already worked my full day for today, and I don't even have orders to bring this one in, and now it seems as if I'm really going to have to work for this one. The new girl chases the goons off of us enough to have a real conversation, so I get straight to the point, my eyes flashing fire, to show my displeasure at the interruption,
Seems you know me, but who are you?
The girl tells Ashe she knows her sister, and is sent to take her to the said sister, and I sense a few red flags going up right there.
This Mutant is under my protection. If you really have her sister, why don't you bring her here?
I turn to Ashe, my temper starting to show, but hey, I'm not on the clock here, and as I was only trying to help, this is not what I wasted a good drink and a cigarette for.
Don't be stupid and run off just because she talks of your sister. Those goons had this whole bar thinking you were an escaped nutcase just to get their hands on you, what do you think she's really after here? Only renegade Freaks talk such paranoia about Genemex.
I give the blond a pointed look as I say the last part. I really should just leave the girl to this mess on her own, I don't owe her anything. I wasn't going to watch some bastards chase down a New Mutant in fear, but if she's going to run headlong into something without even knowing this girl, she's on her own. She may say she's not a New Mutant, but most would say just that. No one likes being called a freak. Even ones used to their powers, like me. Those of us who take pride in our special conditions. Talking here, is probably not in our best interests either... if those were fellow GSA agents we chased off, they probably called for back up. My badge may have pulled rank enough to call off a couple over zealous goons, but if they pull a whole squad out, I'm getting over time, and I'm pretty sure so much would be lost in collateral damages that I won't get the credit for trying to help. Damnit! I was out to relax, other than my creds, I didn't bring any equipment, I can't even get a link to the 'system' to see if anything's going on now. On the brighter side, I'm off the clock, and if we just... leave, no one even has to know I was involved, so if this whole deal goes sour, it'll be on those goon's heads, and not mine...
Look, I'm trying to help one of my own here, but if those assholes called in the calvary to take you on, I wont be much help, and unlike me, they aren't so kind. Why don't we take this to a better place? If you have her sister, I'll come along just long enough to make sure you don't plan to harm her, and leave it at that. I don't have orders to bring her in, and I believe family should stick together. But I'm not just going to let her walk blindly into some trap because you have all the right names to throw at her either.

I cocked an eyebrow at Ashe as she downed the drink, nearly choking. "Alright. I'll tell you everything I can." Just not in front of Pyretta. I met Pyretta's stare with my own feral glare, orange-yellow eyes matching the fire in hers. "I told you my name. And she's under MY protection now. I promised Niki. And I'm not in the habit of breaking promises." Pyretta went on, showing me she was clearly deluded as to the GSA's true purpose and what Genomex does behind closed doors. Maybe we could get her out before she got any deeper. "Okay, enough!" I stepped to Pyretta, tempted to grab her arm and make her listen. Only my fear of fire kept me from taking such an action. "First off, I am not a renegade, and it's the truth, not paranoia. You want proof, fine. Come along for the ride. But if you really knew what Genomex does, what your job description says in the fine print of the GSA manual, I doubt you'd be so high and mighty." I was aching to take her on in a fair fight. To beat some sense into her.
"I didn't bank on finding a GSA agent railroading her. I'm here to help her. Your version of help will only end up killing her or worse! The calvary's not coming, and they won't be." I had to move fast, otherwise Pyretta and Ashe would be long gone. One of the goons was already tapping into the GSA to send out a full alert. If Pyretta learned before I got her back to Sanctuary that she was dealing with Mutant X, I was toast, burnt toast. Leaping onto a table in front of the GSA boys, I spun and kicked, catching one in the gut. The kick sent him spiralling into a beam behind him, cracking the wood as he collapsed in a heap. I jumped up onto the other's shoulders, leaned down, planted my hands on the floor, and flipped him. The momentum carried him over until his head cracked against the floor. Enough for a good concussion and one hell of a headache when he woke up. A swift elbow to the nose of number 3, laid him out, and the goons were down. I sped back to Pyretta and Ashe.
I had to give Pyretta credit. Her last statements gave me hope for her yet. "Alright. My Jeep's out front. We need to move before those guys wake up." The three of us ran outside and piled in my Jeep. I pulled out of the parking lot with screaming tires and headed for Sanctuary. "When we get close, you'll need to wear these." I passed them each a blinder. The small, round patch that when placed on the temple, rendered you momentarily blind. "It's to keep Sanctuary's location a secret. Place it here." I pointed to my own temple. "And you'll be blind. It's temporary, and as soon as we arrive, the patch is removed. You'll see just fine. It's for our protection, as well as yours." I didn't go into how the GSA could and would extract the information of Sanctuary's location if given the chance. I lifted my right hand up, hit my comlink and spoke to Emma, who was keeping an eye on me from Sanctuary. "Emma, let Niki know I found Ashe. We're coming in. And I've brought company."
